TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Indonesia and Libya has agreed to improve economic cooperation, particularly in the energy and construction sector.
“In economy, I want to promote improvement in economic ties between Indonesia and Libya,” said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to Libya’s Prime Minister Faiz al-Siraj in a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jakarta, Monday, March 7, 2016.
“We have agreed to improve cooperations in several fields, the first one is in energy,” he said.
A number of state-owned enterprises and Indonesian private companies have already been operating in Libya and will continue company operation after Libya’s situation turns conducive.
“And Libya is open for cooperation,” he said.
President Jokowi said that Libya is also interested to learn about democracy from Indonesia.
“PM Faiz said that [Libya] wants to learn about democracy from Indonesia. About governor, vice governor and mayor elections,” he said.
