Vice President Optimistic Indonesia Will Reach Its Target

4 August 2003 09:33 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Vice President Hamzah Haz is optimistic that Indonesia will reach its target at the third Paris Club meeting. Following a cabinet meeting held at the office of the State Secretariat on Monday (8/4), the Vice President said, “There is a possibility that Indonesia’s debts will be rescheduled.” Last week, Hamzah Haz said that Indonesia expected the debts to be rescheduled for up to 20 years. He was optimistic because “We have lobbied eight countries and surely they will help.” However, the Vice President did not actually mention which eight countries he was referring to. The third Paris Club meeting will be held on April 11-12 and the target of Indonesian government is for the country’s debts to be rescheduled for between 10 to 20 years.
