Indonesian Director to Experiment on Silent Movies

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Movie director Garin Nugroho is set to run an experiment in his new installment. Garin plans to create classic black and white movie, featuring the Melbourne Orchestra.

"I always wanted to make a classical silent movie," said Garin.

"It will be titled Satan Jawa, featuring a live orchestra, just like the Metropolis (German-made movie of 1927 by Fritz Lang)," said Garin Nugroho on Tuesday October 6. Garin plans to resurrect Javanese mythology in a contemporary horror movie, possibly inspired by classic piece of Nosferatu (1922) by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau.

Garin added that Satan Jawa has just been completed. Garin, however, refused to tell when the movie will be released, or if the movie will be released in Indonesia.
