Govt Appoints European Consultant for Bullet Train Project

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government finally appointed a European project consultant to select investors for the bullet train project of Jakarta-Bandung route with an investment worth Rp60 trillion.
Sofjan Wanandi, the Vice President’s Head of Expert Team, said the consultant named by the government will select the investors to become the winner which will manage the project.
There are two countries currently competing to win the project, they are Japan and China.
“Both countries will be invited for a beauty contest, we will use a consultant from Europe, possibly from France or London,” Sofjan said Tuesday, July 14.
Investors have conducted a feasibility study, detail engineering design, calculation for the total investment of the project, and public transportation fares.
The consultants will perform an assessment, whether from technical, finance, and a policy on local content product use to back national industrialization. The selection process will be held at the end of 2015.
