TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara said there are more and more regions that are developing smart city concept in Indonesia.
“So far, there have been 20 regions that are implementing smart city,” said Rudiantara on Tuesday.
Rudiantara said several regions that are currently developing the smart city concept are Bandung, Bogor, Banyuwangi, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Aceh and Balikpapan. Each region has different take on developing their own smart city, depending on the mayor or regent.
Rudiantara continued that smart city concept is more popular among city governments compared to regencies because cities have smaller scope and are more efficient. However, some regencies are also developing the same concept.
“Every region has a different level because its application depends on regional heads’ main focus. For example, smart city in Bogor focuses more in improving transportation,” he said.
