TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Following the disbursement of the 2015 State Budget Amendment this month, the government will start working on infrastructure projects. Speaking at the Asian Institute of International Finance Summit 2015 yesterday, Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that once the state-funded projects take off, industrial activities and consumption will rise.
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has said it will accelerate the construction of infrastructure projects in three fields: food security, connectivity, as well as housing and settlements.
"The three areas are expected to boost economic growth in the second and third quarters," the ministry's spokesman Djoko Mursito said.
The Public Works Ministry was allotted a budget Rp94.57 trillion for infrastructure development, consisting of a Rp9.1-trillion multi-year project budget and a Rp85.47-trillion single-year project budget. Out of this year's entire projects, about 80 percent or Rp68.36 trillion have entered biddings, with 50 percent of them signed.
