TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) chairperson Wiryanti Sukamdani said on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, that hotel bookings for Christmas and New Year holidays have increased, adding that Hotels in three major cities, such as Bali, Yogyakarta and Jakarta, had been almost fully-booked.
According to Yanti, in Jakarta, hotels near tourism areas had the highest occupancy. For instance, hotels near Ancol recorded an increase in bookings by 50 percent a week before the New Year, while those in Bali and Yogyakarta noted an increase by 80 percent.
Yanti predicted that hotel occupancy would increase by 60-65 percent, and resorts would be fully booked by domestic and foreign tourists, “especially by those from Australia, who are having summer in their country.”
Yanti hopes that hotel managements would be able to improve their service during the peak season.
Meanwhile in Badung, a number of hotels recorded low number of bookings. Baltika City Hotel staf Angga Kurniawan said of 54 rooms available, only 40 percent had been booked.
