Jakarta FDA Destroys Rp2bn of Illegal Medicine, Cosmetics

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Jakarta Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) destroyed Rp2.01 billion worth of illegal medicine, cosmetics and food on Wednesday, December 10.
A total of 326 items or 321,158 packs of the illegal goods were seized by the BPOM during 2013 and 2014.
"In 2014, we see an increase of violations in cosmetic commodities," said Dewi Prawitasari, head of the Jakarta BPOM.
The illegal products were destroyed in the Great Hall of the BPOM Office in Cilangkap, East Jakarta. (*)
