TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - English second-division football club Wigan, has sacked manager Uwe Rosler on Thursday , November 13, 2014, following poor match results and the fact that the club now sits at the Championship-division relegation zone.
Wigan, who just lifted the FA Cup at Wembley 18 months ago, have won not more than one match since August.
Last Friday's 3-1 defeat by its Lancashire rival Bolton, forced the club's chairman Dave Whelan to make the decision.
"I have thought long and hard about this," Whelan stated on the club’s website. "I have thought about little else for days in fact. Initially my thoughts were that Uwe should be given more time.”
"He is a good manager and I like him immensely as a person, he is honest, passionate and clearly works day and night to try and earn success for the team," Whelan added.
