TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Government of Jakarta will increase twice its budget on Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) in 2015. The submitted 2015 budget is Rp3 trillion. This year’s budget is only 1.4 trillion for 611,000 students.
Caretaker of KJP Management to Jakarta’s Education Department, Waluyo, said that the additional budget is due to internal surveys. The survey results showed KJP’s budget only covers 40 percent of students’ needs. “Mr. Ahok (Acting Governor of Jakarta) demands 100 percent,” Waluyo said on Monday, Oct 27.
Up until now, the KJP budget received by students are only used for transportation cost and allowances. So necessities such as shoes and school books often becomes unaffordable. “That’s why we expect with this increased budget, necessities such as school books can be fulfilled,” Waluyo said in a statement. There will also be a mechanism repair in the taking and receiving process.
The Jakarta’s Education Deparment will change the money withdrawal scheme for the recipient of KJP. Students can only withdraw transportation money from the total value received. Whereas for school fees and school books can only be automatically withdrawn through autodebet facility.
