TEMPO.CO, Rio de Janeiro - Columbian pop star Shakira is going to perform on the 2014 World Cup closing ceremony which will be held before the final match at Maracana Stadium, Rio de Janeiro on July 13.
"I have an intricate relationship with football for obvious reasons, and I truly understand what the World Cup means to so many people, myself included," BBC quoted Shakira as saying.
The 37-year-old singer is known for her relationship with Barcelona and Spain football player Gerard Pique.
Previously, Shakira had also performed in the World Cup closing ceremony South Africa World Cup in 2010 and in Germany in 2006. Her hit for the 2010 World Cup 'Waka Waka' (This Time for Africa) is named the most sold-out World Cup jingle ever.
Other than Shakira, artists like Carlos Santana, hip hop star Wyclef Jean, and Brazilian singer Alexandre Pures will be singing together other World Cup official soundtrack 'Dar Um Jeito'.
