TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Democrat Party's (NasDem) central board chief Patrice Rio Capella said that NasDem would meet the National Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) to discuss three vice presidential candidates that will accompany Joko Widodo. Those three candidates are Mahfud MD, Jusuf Kalla and Ryamizardi Raccudu.
"We are currently monitoring regional reports. We discuss it together this week," Rio told Tempo on Monday, adding that his party inclined more toward Jusuf Kalla than the other two candidates to accompany Jokowi.
Jusuf Kalla previously met Surya Paloh, NasDem chairman, at NasDem central office in Jakarta on Friday. He said it was an informal meeting and both reminisced about their times when they were Golkar officials. Jusuf Kalla was the chairman of Golkar, while Surya Paloh was the former chief of Golkar's advisory board.
"We talked about the ups and downs during campaigns," he said. Jusuf Kalla said there had not been any discussion of political plan for the 2014 Presidential Election, let alone the possibility of him being nominated as vice presidential candidate by NasDem. The meeting discussed more about the results of legislative elections which were held on April 9, 2014.
