TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of Jakarta Education Agency Lasro Marbun said he would impose a sanction on any school caught manipulating the Smart Jakarta Card. He added he would recall the cards regardless of the schools’ status - be it public or private.
"We will seek the players. If they were the principals, we would discharge them of their posts," he said. "We will also withdraw misplaced KJP."
Lasro's statement came after the Indonesian Corruption Watch announced 19.4 percent of the KJP cards had missed its targets. ICW stated the maldistribution of the cards ensued from considerable discrepancies of criteria in the KJP technical guideline.
Coordinator at ICW Public Service Monitoring Division Febri Hendri added the public need to help monitor KJP. "The list of recipients must be open to the public," he said. He added people could then complain if the data were inaccurate.
