TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - The Surabaya administration has initiated a reforestation by planting a thousand trees in Batu Beach, Kenjeran, Surabaya. The reforestation is said to be a part of one billion tree planting program, initiated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
In addition to planting more trees, the administration also cleared out the rocks that have been used by street vendors. "((It is) so that the street vendors cannot use it anymore," said Surabaya Mayor, Tri Rismaharini yesterday.
The first female Surabaya Mayor had even helped move away the rocks with her own hands. "Pease stay aside, these are heavy," she shouted.
She also reminded the officers: "Do not arrange the rocks; leave them scrambled, so that the street vendors cannot occupy them," she continued.
Despite the sweat and heavy rocks, Risma looked spirited in doing the reforestation. The event was taken part by the working unit of Surabaya Administration, people’s protection organization and One Billion Indonesian Trees community.
