TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan claimed that he is ready to explain his involvement in the garlic cartel to the Comission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU).
Minister Gita feels confident that KPPu's allegation on both him and Bachrul Chairi, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, will not be proven. "We believed that what we did was according to regulation," the Minister said.
Previously, Minister Gita was allegedly accused of hiding information about a conspiracy between the Directorate General of Foreign Trade with garlic traders. Gita then filed an objection on the allegation to KPPU.
Gita, along with 19 companies, were suspected to be involved in the cartel practice between November 2012 - February 2013.
