TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Australian Embassy and Indonesia’s Endowment Fund for Education Agency (LPDP) officially launched the LPDP-Australia Awards Scholarships on August 26, 2024. The collaboration is expected to open up new opportunities for Indonesian students to study in Australia. The opening round will offer 50 scholarships for Masters-level study in Australia in 2025.

“Australia’s scholarships program in Indonesia has been running for more than 70 years. We are proud to work in partnership with LPDP to offer more opportunities for Indonesian students to receive a world-class Australian education,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Penny Williams PSM.

President Joko Widodo or Jokowi and Australian PM Albanese announced the LPDP-Australia Awards collaboration at the Australia-Indonesia Annual Leader’s Meeting in Australia in July 2023.

Andin Hariyanto, the President Director of LPDP said the agency is pleased to partner with Australia to fulfill the vision of both countries’ leaders for enhanced and expanded scholarship opportunities for Indonesian students studying in Australia.

The LPDP-Australia Awards 2025 will target study programs relevant to the blue economy, green/renewable energy, and digital/information technology.

Concerning education, the Australian Embassy in Indonesia and the Australian Consulate General in Surabaya collaborated with Diponegoro University (Undip) to launch #AussieBanget Corner in Semarang, Central Java, on Tuesday, August 27. Interim Consul-General Steve Scott and Undip Rector Suharnomo inaugurated the event.

Steve Scott said the Central Java #AussieBanget Corner launch underlined Indonesia and Australia’s commitment to maintain their partnership in education.

Meanwhile, Suharnomo said the program will expand Undip students and faculty to deepen their knowledge about Australia through partnerships with 12 Australian universities. Among these universities are University of Queensland, University of New South Wales, Flinders University, Griffith University, and University of Adelaide.

Located on the ground floor of Undip’s Central Library, the #AussieBanget Corner is a precious resource for the university’s community. This corner offers knowledge about Australian cultures and provides necessary information about studying in Australia, including access to Austalia Awards scholarships.
