TEMPO.CO, Batam - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto today, August 26, inaugurated the opening of eight new companies in the Wiraraja Indonesia Industrial Area, Kabil Nongsa, Batam City, Riau Islands Province. The combined investment value of these eight companies reached Rp290 trillion, with a workforce absorption of 36,150 workers.
Airlangga expressed appreciation for the US-based company's investment in Batam and expressed hope for continued growth and development of the industrial sector in Batam and Riau Islands, leading to higher economic growth for the province compared to the national average.
He emphasized that the industrial sector in Riau Islands differs from other industrial areas, as growth is not concentrated in a single company. “This indicates the diversity of advanced industries in Riau Islands, ranging from heavy industry to services such as the Nongsa Digital Park special economic zone (KEK),” said the former chairperson of the Golkar Party.
He also hoped that the Riau Islands industry would excel regionally, competing with Johor and Malaysia. He challenged Governor Ansar Ahmad and Batam Mayor Muhammad Rudi to achieve this goal.
Moreover, he highlighted the significant energy potential of the Riau Islands, including renewable energy, with an investment value of US$17.6 billion (approximately Rp290 trillion) over five years. “This an extraordinary accomplishment,” he added.
The eight companies inaugurated were PT Atelier Solar Indonesia, PT Uwin Resources Regeneration, TUL Taiwan Corp, PT Energy Tech Indonesia, PT Quantum Luminous Indonesia, PT Essence Global Indonesia, PT Galang Bumi Industri, and PT Wiraraja Strategix (Wiraraja Power).
