TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has asked all parties to wait for the results of the investigation into the tourist helicopter crash in Badung, Bali, on Friday, July 19, 2024.

"We are concerned, but we are grateful that there were no victims. However, this is something that needs to be followed up, investigated, and we must not blame each other while waiting for the investigation results," he said on Saturday, July 20, 2024.

The minister informed that he once received an offer to ride the tourist helicopter.

"It seems that the helicopter had gone through the certification process and was fit to fly. It was also commanded by a qualified team, but we are still waiting for the investigation results," he added.

Uno said that the helicopter was operated as part of a tour that offered views of the beauty of Bali from the sky.

"Let's not have bad suspicions. Hopefully, it can provide input on tourism activities that use helicopters or other facilities," he added.

After the results come out, it is hoped that corrective measures will be taken promptly to ensure that tourism in Indonesia remains safe and comfortable, he said.

"I want to ensure that tourism in Indonesia is safe, comfortable, and security and safety aspects are priority in Indonesian tourism," Uno reaffirmed.

Earlier, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) operations command center in Jakarta received a report that a helicopter (flight number PK-WSP) made a crash-landing in the Suluban area, Badung, Bali, at 3:27 p.m. local time on Friday.

The "Bali Heli Tour" helicopter crashed near a rock cliff. Its tail was broken and its front was destroyed.

The helicopter had taken off at 2:33 p.m. local time the same day from the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) helipad.

All five people on board, including the pilot and flight crew, survived the incident and were safe.
