TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The electric car market in Indonesia continues to heat up, with manufacturers vying for dominance each month. In June 2024, Chinese brands continued to lead the pack in sales.
The Chery Omoda E5 retained its position as the best-selling electric car in June. Data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) reveals that wholesale distribution reached 596 units throughout the month. However, this is a decrease compared to May 2024, when it reached 755 units.
Wuling Cloud EV secured the second spot, experiencing a slight increase in sales from 452 units in May to 498 units in June. The MG 4 EV came in third, albeit with a slight decrease in distribution to 325 units in June.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5, the first electric car assembled locally in Indonesia, secured fourth place with 173 units sold wholesale. Rounding out the top five is the Wuling Air EV, the brand's compact electric car, with 171 units distributed in June.
