TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police marks its 78th anniversary, also known as Bhayangkara Day, with a grand celebration culminating in a public party at Monas Square in Jakarta on July 1, 2024.
Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said the public celebration would kick off at 14:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) and end at 22:00 WIB.
He highlighted the presence of 150 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) providing free food and drinks throughout the event. “This event is free, the food and drinks provided by 150 MSEs are also free,” he said on Sunday, June 30.
This public celebration aligns with the anniversary's theme: “Polri Precision Support the Acceleration of Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Transformation Towards a Golden Indonesia”.
On its 78th anniversary, he said, the National Police hoped to continue to be loved by the public and bring the police closer to the community.
Adding to the festive spirit are performances by popular Indonesian artists, including Ari Lasso, GiGi, RAN, Endah N Rhesa, Isyana Sarasvati, and Goyang featuring NDX AKA.
“We urge the public to come and take part in the event in an orderly manner and enjoy the highlight of the Bhayangkara Day public party,” he said.
The anniversary commemorations began with a series of formal events, including official ceremonies, marching parades featuring the Police Academy marching band, and parachute displays.
President Joko Jokowi Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin are expected to attend, along with President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, among other officials.
