TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia Group predicts a 5 to 8 percent increase in passenger numbers during the Eid al-Adha 2024 holiday period. In other words, the company projects carrying at least 335,819 passengers from June 13 to 18, 2024.
Garuda Indonesia has prepared two airlines to transport passengers during the Eid al-Adha holiday: Garuda Indonesia and Citilink. The former is expected to carry 165,195 passengers, while the latter will transport 170,624 passengers. These figures are predicted to fluctuate dynamically in line with passenger movements. The total passenger count is calculated from at least 2,587 flight operations.
During the holiday period, flight services will be optimized with increased flight capacity through the operation of wide-body aircraft. Additionally, Garuda Indonesia Group will operate at least 14 extra flights, 10 of which will be operated by Citilink.
"We hope that the proactive steps we are taking during this Eid al-Adha holiday period will meet the needs and expectations of the public," said Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra in a written statement on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
On Friday, June 14, 2024, Garuda Indonesia Group recorded a total of 73,434 passengers across all flight routes. The total included 35,041 passengers served by the main brand Garuda Indonesia and 38,393 passengers served by low-cost carrier Citilink.
For the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday and school holiday period, Irfan projects passenger growth will continue to be dynamic. He stated that the focus is on ensuring smooth flight operations during this period.
One of the measures, he said, includes intensive coordination with airport stakeholders. "To ensure the safety, security, and comfort of passengers at all service touch points," he said.
In addition, Irfan stated that the airworthiness of the fleet is also a focus for the company in optimizing operational readiness during the Eid al-Adha holiday period. To ensure this, Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF) has undertaken several preparations and mitigations before the peak season begins.
These preparations include completing aircraft health programs, increasing manpower, accelerating the procurement of aircraft spare parts, particularly fast-moving parts required to resolve technical issues, and adding Ground Support Equipment.
