TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pertamina has supplied an additional 185,680 subsidized 3-kilogram LPG for Madiun in East Java as part of its Eid al-Adha policy. In total, East Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara receive 1,797,160 subsidized LPG.
Regional Area Manager Communication Relations and CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga, Ahad Rahedi, said the additional subsidized LPG is expected to provide a sense of security and comfort to residents during Eid al-Adha since LPG use is expected to rise drastically.
"Before and after Eid al-Adha, we will periodically flood (the market with) LPG cylinders based on predictions of the consumption level in each region," said Ahad.
"Of course, the amount will adapt to each region’s need, as such in Madura with its toron tradition where there are more travelers compared to Eid al-Fitri,” Ahad added.
Nevertheless, residents are still advised to buy subsidized LPG at Pertamina bases to get the highest retail price (HET) of Rp16,000 per cylinder. Prices higher than the HET indicate the sellers are not official Pertamina bases. "You can buy them as it’s your choice, but don’t if they take too much profit since it will benefit the overpriced sellers,” he said.
As for the official Pertamina bases, Ahad explained that there are at least 3 in every village.
