TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN) attended the declaration ceremony of the elected presidential and vice presidential candidates as a result of the 2024 presidential election at the Indonesian the General Election Commission (KPU) as a state process.
"We have to respect the state process. That's why we are here," said Anies at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, Wednesday 24th of April 2024.
According to him, the agenda for determining the winner of the presidential election is a state process. They also respect this state process until it is completed.
"Thank God, we are here together, respecting the process and we are doing all this without forgetting and want to remind everyone that at the previous Constitutional Court hearing there were a lot of notes that needed to be used as material for improvement. We must keep that in mind," he said.
Meanwhile, AMIN spokesman Mustofa Nahrawardaya said Anies and Muhaimin wanted to show good state attitudes by attending the determination of the winner of the 2024 presidential election.
"Mas Anies and Gus Imin will be present at the plenary to determine the selected candidate pairs, showing a good state attitude. This will also close the 2024 presidential election process with an honorable attitude," said Mustofa.
The Anies and Muhaimin couple arrived at the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) office at 10:03 WIB to attend the determination of the elected presidential and vice presidential candidates.
They arrived at the KPU in the same car and wore white shirts and gray suits together. They then greeted journalists before entering the Indonesian KPU office following the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair who had arrived at 09:48 WIB.
Indonesian KPU member Idham Holik said that the determination of the elected presidential and vice presidential pairs was carried out no later than 3 days after the reading of the Constitutional Court (MK) decision regarding disputes over election results in accordance with Article 4 of KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 6 of 2024.
He explained Prabowo-Gibran's decision as reading the Constitutional Court's decision on Monday (22/4) which rejected all requests by Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md in the 2024 Presidential Election Results Dispute (PHPU) trial.
Previously, the Indonesian KPU appointed the Indonesian Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the elected presidential-vice presidential candidate pair in the 2024 presidential election. However, this result was disputed at the Constitutional Court.
This declaration ceremony is contained in KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 concerning Determination of the results of the General Election for President and Vice President, Members of the People's Representative Council, Regional Representative Council, Provincial Regional People's Representative Council, and Regency/City Regional People's Representative Council Nationally in the 2024 General Election .
"The results of the national general election as intended in the First Dictum to the Fifth Dictum will be determined on Wednesday, 20th of March 2024 at 22:19 WIB (Western Indonesia Time)," said Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy'ari at the Indonesian KPU Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (20/ 3).
Hasyim revealed that the Prabowo-Gibran pair won 96,214,691 votes. Meanwhile, the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair received 40,971,906 votes, while the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md pair received 27,040,878 votes. According to him, the total number of valid ballots was 164,227,475 votes.
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court on Monday (22/4) decided on two cases regarding the 2024 presidential election dispute filed by Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud. The decision reading session was chaired by Chief Justice Suhartoyo.
In its decision, the Constitutional Court rejected all the requests submitted by Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud. According to the MK, the petitions of both parties were legally groundless in their entirety.
Regarding this decision, there were different opinions (dissenting opinions) from three Constitutional Justices, namely Saldi Isra, Enny Nurbaningsih, and Arief Hidayat. In essence, the three Constitutional Justices stated that the Constitutional Court should order re-voting in several regions.
In their petitum, Ganjar-Mahfud and Anies-Muhaimin essentially asked the Constitutional Court to cancel KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 concerning the determination of the results of the 2024 presidential and vice presidential general elections.
