BMKG Forecasts Rain in Parts of Indonesia Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned of downpour potential in a number of Indonesian regions on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, namely in Bali, Bangka Belitung, Banten, Bengkulu, Gorontalo, Jambi, East Java, Central Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan,

The same warning was also given for Maluku, Papua, West Papua, Riau, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, North Sumatra,

Meanwhile, BMKG, as quoted by Antara, also released an early warning of heavy rain with lightning potential in Aceh, Lampung, North Maluku, Jakarta, West Java, West Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.

East Nusa Tenggara is expected to be flushed with light to medium rain accompanied by lightning and thunder.

In addition, BMKG forecasts a cloudy morning in Banda Aceh, Serang, Bengkulu, Bandung, Semarang, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Bandar Lampung, Mamuju, Padang, Palembang, and Medan. However, rain with lightning is expected to fall in Jambi in the morning.

A number of cities are expected to be cloudy throughout the day, except for Makassar, Yogyakarta, Ambon, and Jayapura which are expected to have a drizzle in the early hours of the day.

In the afternoon, it is expected that Surabaya, Banjarmasin, Mataram, and Manado will have a drizzle, while at the same time, Medan and Yogyakarta are expected to have downpours. 

BMKG weather forecast also noted that Palembang will rain in the evening.

Meanwhile, in Jakarta, all cities are expected to be cloudy in the morning, with South Jakarta and East Jakarta raining in the afternoon. Light rain is expected in East Jakarta in the evening. At dawn, all of Jakarta is expected to be cloudy, except for Seribu Islands with medium-intensity rain.
