BMKG Weather Forecast: Greater Jakarta Rains Evenly in the Afternoon and Early Morning

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) predicts Jakarta will be entirely cloudy this morning, Friday, April 12, 2024. Rain potential is only in North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands.

Likewise, the surrounding areas, Depok, Cibinong (Bogor Regency), and Bogor City, will be cloudy today.

Meanwhile, Bekasi and three areas in Greater Tangerang, namely Tangerang City, Serpong (South Tangerang City), and Tigaraksa (Tangerang Regency), are predicted to be cloudy.

BMKG predicts that the afternoon weather will turn into rain evenly throughout the Greater Jakarta area. For example, only the Thousand Islands are cloudy in the Jakarta area.

All mainland areas are raining, South Jakarta and East Jakarta are predicted to receive moderate rain, while the rest is light shower.

The surrounding areas have the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning. They are Bekasi, Depok, Cibinong, Bogor City, Tangerang City, and Tigaraksa. One area, Serpong, is expected to receive moderate rain.

Rain will stop to be replaced by thick cloudy weather in South Jakarta in the evening. Cloudy in West Jakarta and East Jakarta, and even cloudy in Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Thousand Islands.

But entering the morning, BMKG predicts rain again throughout Jakarta. This time it is evenly distributed to the Thousand Islands, and some even have the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning.

The pattern is similar in Greater Tangerang. In the evening, all areas are predicted to have cloudy weather. In the morning, the rain will return with varying potential for light rain (Tangerang City) and moderate rain (Serpong and Tigaraksa).

Meanwhile, in Bekasi, Depok, Cibinong, and Bogor City, rainy weather is expected to last tonight with the potential for light rain. The potential lasts until dawn except for Bogor City, which may become cloudy.

Weather Early Warning

Overall, BMKG provides early weather warnings to many areas today—until dawn. This includes being aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds that can occur in South Jakarta and East Jakarta in the afternoon, as well as in North Jakarta, West Jakarta, and Thousand Islands in the morning.

Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in Bogor Regency and City, Depok City, and Bekasi Regency and City. According to BMKG, for all of these areas, the potential can occur on a local scale from afternoon to evening and early morning.

For the central and southern parts of Tangerang Regency, Tangerang City, and South Tangerang City, the BMKG early warning is to be aware of the potential for moderate to heavy rain that can be accompanied by strong winds.
