TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Alms Agency (Baznas) has been working hand in hand with the International Networking for Humanitarian (INH) to distribute meals for Palestinians currently taking shelters in Gaza refugee camps during Ramadan.
"Praise be to God, Baznas is in collaboration with INH to distribute Ramadan meals to Palestinians currently inhabiting Camp Jabaila (North Gaza) and Camp Mwasi (South Gaza)," Deputy Head of Baznas Mokhamad Mahdum noted in the agency's statement received on Sunday, April 07, 2024.
He informed that the food assistance had been received by around 5,000 Palestinian people, including children and the elderly.
According to Mahdum, the alms agency would continue to distribute the meals until this year's Islamic holy month concludes.
"The distribution of food to Palestinian residents constitutes an annual agenda of Baznas in Ramadan and has become one of the agency's flagship programs in the holy month," he pointed out.
He expressed hope that the food aid distribution in collaboration with INH would relieve Palestinians from their burdens and console them during the trying time under the siege of Israeli occupation forces.
Mahdum also extended the agency's appreciation to those involved in providing assistance to Palestinians.
"We would like to thank all donors for allocating their assets to help Palestinian people in need," he stated.
He further underlined that the alms agency is distributing the aid collected from Indonesian people while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and Islamic law as well as the security of Indonesia.
"This humanitarian act is in line with the mission of Baznas to reach a broader population and bring about positive impacts to their lives. May the Almighty God bless us all," he concluded.
