TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tokopedia CEO Melissa Siska Juminto announced that the migration process of TikTok Shop to the e-commerce platform was completed on March 27, 2024. The shopping service of the China-based video-sharing app has officially been renamed as Shop Tokopedia.
Melissa claimed that the shopping system at Shop Tokopedia is in compliance with the Trade Minister’s Regulation No. 31 of 2023 on business licensing, advertising, guidance, and supervision of business players in trade through electronic systems.
“Everything has been completed according to the regulations from the Trade Ministry,” Melissa said in a media briefing at Tokopedia's HQ in South Jakarta on Wednesday, April 3.
She confirmed that the entire payment infrastructure of the TikTok Shop has been altered and is now entirely under the control of Tokopedia.
As a result, TikTok as a social media would no longer facilitate any transactions. Beyond payment, Tokopedia would ensure that there will be no data misuse or data control that could lead to unhealthy competition. With this commitment, the company separates the data of TikTok users and Shop Tokopedia users.
Shop Tokopedia also has a feature of a privacy setting, which allows TikTok users to disable data personalization for shopping purposes.
