TEMPO.CO, JakartaA total of 30 manufacturing company leaders from China and members of the Suzhou Hunan Business Association visited BP Batam yesterday, Wednesday, March 27, 2024. The companies were looking to explore business development potential in Batam City.

Their visit was received directly by the Head of Public Relations, Promotion and Protocol of BP Batam, Ariastuty Sirait, and the Director of Goods Traffic and Investment of BP Batam, Surya Kurniawan Suhari at the Marketing Center of BP Batam.

Ariastuty welcomed the plans of these companies. According to Ariastuty, the manufacturing industry became the main pillar of Batam’s economy during the early years of the city's development. Thus, this export-oriented and high-economic value industry continues to be developed by BP Batam.

"This is in line with the commitment of the Head of BP Batam Muhammad Rudi to continue to improve the economy of Batam City which ultimately has an impact on the welfare of the residents," she said after the meeting.

BP Batam will certainly open up as many investment opportunities as possible from the Chinese companies, she added. China is the second largest contributor to investment in Batam City after Singapore. China recorded US$46.42 million of investment from 137 projects in Batam throughout 2023.

"So, their visit to Batam was intended to understand the investment policy in Batam City, as well as about manpower and the entry and exit of Immigration," she said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Traffic Goods and Investment of BP Batam, Surya Kurniawan Suhari welcomed this meeting. According to him, Batam City is a strategic area for investment.

"We hope their investment can be realized as soon as possible," he concluded.
