TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Freeport McMoran Chairman and CEO Richard C Adkerson visited the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, March 28, to meet with President Joko Jokowi Widodo. Previously, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said on her social media that she had welcomed a visit by Freeport officials to her office on Wednesday, March 27.
“This afternoon I received a visit from one of the drivers of the extractive industry in Indonesia, @freeportindonesia. Not only @tonywenas, I also received a visit from Freeport-McMoran CEO Richard Adkerson, Freeport Mc-Moran CFO Kathleen L. Quirk, and also Freeport Indonesia CFO Rob Schroeder,” Sri wrote on her Instagram account @smindrawati.
The state treasurer said she exchanged views with them on many issues, “from the global economic landscape which is still very volatile, the largest energy conference in the United States held in Houston, to snapshots of today’s copper market conditions.”
During the meeting, Sri Mulyani said Adkerson also announced that he would be ending his tenure as Freeport McMoran CEO after 20 years in office and would be replaced by Kathleen L. Quirk. She thus congratulated Quirk on her new assignment.
