TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate pair number 01, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, arrived at the Constitutional Court (MK) in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 27. Both of them would face the General Election Results Dispute (PHPU) trial regarding the 2024 presidential election.
Anies, Muhaimin, and the head of their legal team Ari Yusuf Amir arrived at around 07:20 WIB (Western Indonesia Time). Both appeared to be wearing black suits and red ties.
Anies said he would follow the proceedings at the Constitutional Court. According to him, the lawsuit filed was not a sensation, but to continue and maintain the constitutional practice.
“This is for us to continue the practice of the constitution, so it is much more important to follow the substance,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining constitutional practices. “So that democracy works well, government management works well. When there are elections, the elections are free from pressure and threats," said Anies.
On the same occasion, Ari said, the attorney would deliver a presentation on the lawsuit request, including on the issue of betrayal of the constitution. The attorney will also show videos during the trial process. “We will be concise, we will explain our request within 90 minutes,” Ari said.
The Constitutional Court will hold the first hearing of the presidential election dispute today, March 27. The agenda is a preliminary examination of the applications brought before the court by candidate pair Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar.
