TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan spoke up regarding the election results as announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Wednesday evening. Based on the vote recapitulation results, Anies-Muhaimin garnered 24.95 percent of the votes. Meanwhile, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka obtained 58.58 percent, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md obtained 16.45 percent of the votes.
Anies said the presidential election process was no less important than the final result. If the election process was tainted with violations and fraud, it would result in a regime full of injustice.
"The process must be open, fair, honest, free from pressure. A tainted process will produce a regime whose output will be a policy full of injustice," Anies said in a YouTube broadcast on his official account as observed by Tempo on Wednesday evening, March 20, 2024.
The former Governor of Jakarta argued that an honest and open election process ensured the votes were eligible and respectable. In addition to maintaining legitimacy, a just process also impacts public confidence in the election results.
"Without a credible process, the legitimacy of the elected candidate may raise doubts," said Anies.
Submitting a complaint to the Constitutional Court
The Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar National Winning Team (AMIN) will indeed challenge the results of the 2024 general election to the Constitutional Court or MK.
The vice presidential candidate, Muhaimin Iskandar, said that since the beginning, the 2024 Election process had been marred with fraud and abnormalities. He claims this situation occurred long before the voting, such as engineering the regulation to recorded allegations of state intervention.
"There are numerous findings that the 2024 elections lack integrity. The AMIN Legal Team will convey all of this to the Constitutional Court," Muhaimin Iskandar said, as broadcasted on Anies Baswedan's YouTube on Wednesday.
