Gibran Rakabuming Visits UK; Promotes Investment in Various Sectors

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka embarked on a working visit to the UK, as he was invited by the Indonesian Embassy in the country.
“He departed last Saturday, [and will be in the UK] until Sunday (March 10),” said Vice Surakarta Mayor Teguh Prakosa in Solo, on Monday, March 4, 2024.
He admitted to not knowing the details of Gibran’s working visit. “I don’t know, but exploring cooperation may be one of them,” he said.
While Gibran is away in the UK, Teguh would act as the Acting Mayor, he said. Meanwhile, according to the head of the Protocol and Communication department of the Surakarta City Government Herwin Tri Nugroho Adi, Gibran departed to the UK to fulfill the invitation from the Indonesian Embassy in the UK. “From March 3 to 10, 2024,” he said.
The working visit, Herwin explained, was the government’s efforts to boost export in the creative economy, digital, and MSMEs sectors. Additionally, the working visit was conducted to promote investment in the education sector, as well as “increasing the investment on energy transition, digital, and low-carbon infrastructure”.
