Sri Mulyani Meets with World Bank President, Discussing Energy Transition

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati met with the President of the World Bank, Ajay Banga. The meeting took place prior to the convening of the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors or FMCBG Meeting in São Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
“Bom dia! São Paulo felt quite cold this morning, but there were many warm conversations. One of them was with the President of @worldbank, Ajay Banga. We met and exchanged ideas amid our respective G20 agendas,” Sri wrote on her Instagram account @smindrawati on Thursday, February 29.
She revealed that the meeting was centered around the subject of cooperation between Indonesia and the World Bank, particularly on matters related to energy transition, including carbon credits, cooperation on the Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM), the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), to the Climate Investment Funds - Renewable Energy Integration (CIF-REI).
The two also discussed issues regarding the G20 agenda, such as the G20 Joint Finance and Health Task Force (JFHTF), where Indonesia is co-chairing with Italy this year.
“Apart from that, we also deliberated on the climate and sustainable finance agenda, as well as the Global Financial Architecture Forum,” Sri added.
Sri Mulyani said that although the meeting with Ajay Banga was brief, it was concise and valuable. "A short, concise, and useful discussion. Thank you for the conversation, Ajay," she expressed with gratitude.
