TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said economic similarities are present between Indonesia and Brazil. This statement was posted on her official Instagram account @smindrawati on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024.
“Brazil actually has a number of similarities with Indonesia. Starting from its recovering economy post-crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, its positive economic growth, and the downward trend of unemployment rate. Brazil is currently listed as the top 10 biggest economy in the world,” she wrote.
Sri Mulyani departed to Brazil to attend the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting on Feb. 28-29, 2024.
After taking a 26-hour flight to São Paulo, she took some time to walk in Ibirapuera Park. “Guess where I’m at now? I arrived in São Paulo and am currently at Ibirapuera Park. This is the place where the G20 FMCBG Meeting will take place for the first time in Brazil as G20’s presidency,” she added.
The minister also mentioned that she will keep updates about the results of the G20 meeting, especially concerning global economic and financial development, which, she believed is shaded by a downside risk.
“For the next two days I will report the agendas discussed at the G20, including global economic and financial development,” Sri Mulyani concluded.
