TEMPO.CO, South Tangerang - South Tangerang City Police launched an investigation into the alleged bullying case at Binus Senior High School in Serpong, Tangerang, which went viral on social media after an X (formerly Twitter) account, @BosPurwa, shared the news on Monday, February 19, 2024.

The account stated that there were allegations of bullying that occurred at the international school which resulted in a student being hospitalized after being beaten and abused by dozens of his seniors. One of the perpetrators was said to be the child of a celebrity.

Rumors began to circulate on X that the perpetrators belonged to a youth group called ‘Geng Tai’. Another account @indomild posted photos showing the faces of the gang’s members.

When asked about the involvement of the famous artist’s child in the case, South Tangerang Police’s Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit, Adj. Comr. Alvino Cahyadi said his side was still examining the case.

Alvino claimed that the police had visited the hospital where the victim was being treated, asked for clarification, and checked the location of the alleged bullying incident.

Haris Suhendra, the General Manager of BINUS Group Corporate Marketing Communication, was tight-lipped when asked about the perpetrators of the alleged bullying case. However, he confirmed that there were students of Binus School Serpong involved in the case, even though the incident took place outside of school. “The school is still handling it,” he told Tempo, Monday, February 19, 2024.
