1. Bali Rakes in Rp1.4 Billion from Trial Tourist Tax

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bali Provincial Government launched the Foreign Tourist Tax (PWA) program on February 12 in Sanur, Denpasar. Foreign tourists traveling to the island will be subject to the new tourism levy of US$10 or about Rp150,000 starting February 14, 2024.

During the trial period from February 7, the regional government generated a revenue of Rp1.4 billion from the arrival of more than 9,000 foreign tourists.

2. Prabowo-Gibran Lead Race in Quick Count, Anies: Don't Rush to Conclusions

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan responded to the quick count results which showed his rival, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, leading the race. He said the quick count results by unofficial agencies could not be used as a basis for concluding.

"Let’s see until the end. Let's wait, don't rush to conclusions," Anies said at the Anies-Cak Imin or Amin campaign team headquarters in Menteng, Central Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 14.

3. Prabowo Upbeat about One-Round Presidential Election Win

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate number two Prabowo Subianto remains optimistic about his chances of clinching victory in a single round of the 2024 election. “Inshallah (God willing),” he said after casting his ballot at the polling station or TPS 33 in Bojong Koneng, Bogor, today, Feb. 14.

The Defense Minister refused to comment further and promptly concluded the doorstep session, departing the polling area.

Prabowo's campaign team has frequently promulgated the notion of a one-round presidential election throughout the campaign period, contending that it could save the state treasury up to Rp 17 trillion, which could be more effectively used to fund social welfare programs.
