TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan responded to the quick count results which showed his rival, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, leading the race. He said the quick count results by unofficial agencies could not be used as a basis for concluding.
"Let’s see until the end. Let's wait, don't rush to conclusions," Anies said at the Anies-Cak Imin or Amin campaign team headquarters in Menteng, Central Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 14.
The former Jakarta governor also said he would respect the official counting process at the General Election Commission (KPU) and asked the public not to be led by quick count results.
“We shouldn't be led into an instant result. As if everything must be concluded now. Let’s give the KPU time to work,” said Anies.
Earlier reported, pollster Litbang Kompas released its temporary vote counting result at 15:00 local time, revealing that with 53.35 percent of data collected, Prabowo-Gibran secured 59.77 percent of votes, followed by Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar with 23.11 percent and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md with 17.12 percent. Other pollsters also reported that their quick count results put Prabowo-Gibran ahead of the two opponents.
The data will keep fluctuating until the votes are counted across all polling stations in Indonesia.
