TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Whoosh high-speed train recorded a 35 percent spike in passengers during the Isra Miraj and Chinese New Year holiday from Feb. 7-11, 2024. During the long weekend, Whoosh served over 92,000 passengers.
During the holiday, PT KCIC managed to operate a total of 208 Whoosh trips with 40 regular scheduled trips and 8 additional ones.
On average, Whoosh served up to 18,000 passengers daily, which peaked on Feb. 8 with 20,000 passengers. Additionally, the majority of Whoosh departures during the holiday recorded a high occupancy rate, ranging from 80 to 100 percent.
KCIC’s General Manager and Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said on Monday that the passenger spike was attributed to the number of people taking advantage of the long weekend to take a vacation both in Bandung and Jakarta.
The majority of Whoosh passengers boarded the premium economy class, amounting to 93.4 percent. Meanwhile, 80 percent of the passengers took the Halim - Padalarang route round trip.
Eva said that throughout the Isra Miraj and Chinese New Year weekend, Whoosh served the passengers without a hitch. She also thanked all customers for their trust in Whoosh and vowed to “provide the best services” going forward.
