List of 15 Nature Tourism Destinations in Jakarta, From Parks to Mangrove Forest

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Known as the largest metropolitan city in Indonesia and the center of the economy and government, finding natural tourist attractions in Jakarta is relatively easy.
Citing jakarta-tourism.go.id, here are recommendations for 15 nature-themed tourist attractions in Jakarta that you must visit:

1. Sunter Lake

Sunter Lake is a manmade lake located in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. This lake could be an alternative for families who long for water tourism without leaving Jakarta.

2. Cijantung City Forest

The City Forest is standing on a 17,000 square meter area at Jl. RA Fadillah, East Jakarta. Cijantung City Forest opens from Monday to Friday at 07:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. local time.

3. GBK City Forest

This green oasis is located right at the heart of Jakarta within the GBK sports complex. This City Forest is suitable for light activities such as jogging, walking, or picnicking.

4. Srengseng City Forest

Standing on 15 hectares of land, the Srengseng City Forest in West Jakarta can be an option to escape for a moment from the busyness of the capital city.

5. Pesanggrahan Sangga Buana City Forest

Pesanggrahan Sangga Buna City Forest conservational, educational, and natural tourism site in Jakarta, specifically Lebak Bulus. The forest grows several species of plants, such as coffee and red ginger.

6. Seribu Islands

Seribu Islands is often an alternative for residents of Greater Jakarta to leave behind the busy city for a while. 'Seribu' in the Indonesian language means 'a thousand'. Many islands are included in Seribu Islands; Tidung Island, Pramuka Island, Pari Island, Perak Island, Harapan Island, and Bidadari Island, hence the name. 

7. Ancol Beach

Ancol Beach is one of Jakarta's iconic and affordable natural tourist attractions. To enter the beach you are only charged Rp15,000 to enjoy Ancol's coastal view and windy beach. 

8. Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK)

PIK offers white sand and various facilities such as cafes, pools, and restaurants. The beach area opens up to 07:00 p.m. local time.

9. Setu Babakan 

Setu Babakan is a lake in Srengseng Sawah, South Jakarta. This lake is part of the cultural heritage of Betawi. Setu Babakan offers various water sports that attract tourists, such as canoe and hydrocycle.

10. Cattleya Park

Located in Tomang, West Jakarta, the 31,000 square meter park directly faces Taman Anggrek Mall. The park houses around 948 types of plants.

11. Salix Park

This park is located in Jl. Mufakat, South Jakarta. Opened in 2011, this park offers various facilities such as a volleyball field, toilet, footpath, jogging track, outdoor fitness, children's playground, and a plaza.

12. Suropati Park

Located in Menteng, Central Jakarta, this park is open all day and offers many facilities including free internet.

13. Tabebuya Park

Tabebuya Park is located in Jl. Moh. Kahfi I, Ciganjur, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. The park, which stands on an area of 9,626 square meters, is decorated with Tabebuya trees originating from Brazil. Visitors can do light exercises at the park, such as walking, badminton, and yoga.

14. Mangrove Park

The Mangrove Nature Tourism Park is part of the Angke Kapuk Forest Area on 99.82 hectares of land. The park is also a preservation area for the mangrove ecosystem to protect coastal areas, including habitat for various types of water birds.

15. Tebet Eco Park 

This nature-based attraction is a reference to destress yourself in South Jakarta. The 7.3 hectares of green area follows three main concepts; ecological function, a place to socialize, and a recreational as well as educational platform. This park is suitable for people of all ages.
