TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Manager of Corporate Secretary of PT KCIC Eva Chairunisa denied the rumors of Whoosh dynamic pricing caused by the low occupancy rate of the high-speed train.
Eva claimed that the dynamic pricing policy has been planned since Whoosh was first inaugurated. "The dynamic pricing policy has been programmed since the beginning. So there's no connection with the photos of a low number of Whoosh passengers," she explained to Tempo on Monday, January 29, 2024.
For information, the dynamic pricing for Whoosh will start on February 3, 2024. PT KCIC implemented IDR 150,000 as the cheapest Whoosh fare. Thus, for the premium economy class, the train fare will range from IDR 150,000 to IDR 250,000.
However, Eva did not deny that dynamic pricing was one of the strategies to increase the number of passengers and Whoosh's occupancy rate back to 90 percent. "We are targeting the passengers to reach over 90 percent, similar to last November. Thus, we release the dynamic pricing policy in addition to partnerships with tourist destinations," Eva said.
Eva previously explained that several factors affected the dynamic pricing for Whoosh. Those include peak hour, off-peak hour, high season, low season, weekdays, and weekends.
During peak hours, the price for Whoosh will rise, while the price will be cheaper during off-peak hours. The passengers, Eva said, are given choices of fares based on their needs, preferences, and financial abilities.
