Lion Air to Launch New Jakarta-Sorong Route on February 7

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian airline Lion Air announced the launch of its newest routh Jakarta Sorong which will start operating on Feb. 7.
Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Danang Mandala Prihantoro said the route will accommodate the needs of both tourists and businesspeople. The route will be kickstarted with a departure from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at around 07:55 a.m. local time.
"To provide comfortable departing time for passengers," he said on Monday.
The returning flight will also be kickstarted on the same day, departing from Sorong at around 03:00 p.m. local time. "The new domestic route Jakarta-Sorong becomes a part of Lion Air's non-stop route network in Indonesia," he said.
The new route, he said, covers 2,158 miles of distance with a travel time of around 4 hours. Connecting Jakarta and Sorong, this route aims to be a gateway to western Papua's beauty.
Through Sorong, tourists may continue their journey to various other destinations, such as Manowatri, Fak-fak, Kaimana, Nabire, Manado, Jayapura, Ambon, and others.
Meanwhile, Jakarta as the main hub connects passengers domestically and internationally to various cities in Indonesia such as Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, Surabaya, Bali, Lombok, Kupang, Lampung, Palembang, Bengkulu, Jambi, Batam, Padang, Pekanbaru, Medan, Pontianak, Balikpapan, Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.
Lion Air will deploy Boeing 737-800NG with 189 economy class and Boeing 900ER with 215 economy class.
