TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Throughout the 12-day Christmas and New Year holidays, the Whoosh high-speed train has served over 220,227 passengers, a 33 percent hike compared to the beginning of December 2023.
General Manager Corporate Secretary PT KCIC Eva Chairunisa believed the increase in number was caused by the high-level enthusiasm of people wanting to enjoy their year-end holidays.
"PT KCIC accommodates the increase in demand with additional train schedules up to 48 trips per day," she said in a written statement on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
During the Christmas and New Year holidays, the highest number of passengers was recorded departing from Halim Station with 115,435 people. That was followed by departure from Padalarang Station with 73,034 passengers and Tegalluar Station with 31,758 passengers.
The highest departure date during the holiday was recorded on December 26, 2023, reaching 21,188 passengers in total, followed by December 23, 2023, with 21,151 passengers. On average, Whoosh served 19-20,000 passengers daily during the year-end holiday.
PT KCIC has operated 576 Whoosh trips since December 22, 2023, according to Eva. She claimed that every single departure has been safe and on time.
Eva added that despite experiencing a spike in passengers, Whoosh successfully provided service to its customers without any significant obstacles.
"This is the result of the cooperation and collaboration between all relevant parties to provide the best services for the passengers," she said.
Eva also expressed the company's gratitude toward Indonesians who have chosen the Whoosh high-speed train as a transportation mode during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The gratitude is also extended to all relevant stakeholders who have supported PT KCIC during the holiday period.
"Moving forward, we will keep trying to improve the quality of Whoosh's services to maintain its status as people's favorite mode of transportation," she concluded.
