TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry recorded that 241,057 people crossed from Ketapang Ferry Port in Banyuwangi to Gilimanuk Ferry Port in Bali during the Christmas and New Year holidays since Monday, Dec. 18, 2023.
Corporate Secretary of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry Shelvy Arifin said that the peak of year-end holiday ferry departure occurred on Dec. 23 or D-2 of Christmas, reaching 43,467 people.
Meanwhile, the traffic peak of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles crossing to Bali occurred on D-3 of Christmas with 31,836 two-wheeled vehicles and 32,940 four-wheeled.
"We see a significant rise of passengers of ferries during the Christmas holiday especially those driving with two-wheeled vehicles or four-wheeled vehicles seeking for a vacation with their families," Shelvy said.
Shelvy stressed that ASDP has prepared several strategies to anticipate the second traffic flow peak and actively coordinated with BPTD as the regulators of the ferry schedule and the police concerning traffic management.
ASDP also prepared a system of ticket screening in the buffer zone as part of the delaying system to avoid an overwhelming volume of vehicles in the airport.
During the Christmas and New Year holidays, ASDP Ketapng has prepared adequate facilities and infrastructure for optimal service for the passengers. Those include 57 ferries, 792 parking capacities at Ketapang Ferry Port, and 659 parking capacities at Gilimanuk Ferry Port.
