1. Luhut Eyes Jakarta-Surabaya High-speed Train Project After Recovering from Illness

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan admitted that he really longed to return to work. When asked what program he would pursue when he recovered and returned to work, Luhut stated that he want to work on the Jakarta-Surabaya High-speed Train project.

"I really miss going to work. What's happening now is already good. Pak Jokowi wants the Jakarta Surabaya High-speed Train to continue," said Luhut via his personal Instagram, @luhut.pandjaitan, Saturday, October 28, 2023.

Luhut has reportedly been ill since October 10, 2023, he has been undergoing medical check-ups and recovery stages in Singapore. His duties in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet were temporarily transferred by President Joko Widodo or Jokowi to BUMN Minister Erick Thohir.

2. Luhut Denies Issues of Resigning from His Position in Jokowi's Cabinet

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan dismissed reports that he would resign from his position in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, saying that he would continue to be loyal to President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.

"I will never step down from [working with] Pak Jokowi," said Luhut via his personal Instagram account, @luhut.pandjaitan, on Saturday, October 28.

Luhut said he would stay loyal to President Jokowi until the 7th Indonesian president no longer needed the minister. Luhut stated that he considers Jokowi as a commander who should be supported at all costs.

3. Thousands Join Pro-Palestinian Protest in London to Demand Gaza Ceasefire

Thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched in central London on Saturday, Oct. 28, to demand the British government call for a ceasefire after Israel's military widened its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Aerial footage showed large crowds setting off on the march organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, with the protest due to end outside the Houses of Parliament after passing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's Downing Street office.

Echoing Washington's stance, Sunak's government has stopped short of calling for a ceasefire and instead advocated humanitarian pauses to allow aid to reach people in Gaza.
