TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Suparni Yati, a para-athletic athlete, won Indonesia its first medal at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games 2022. The athlete received a silver medal for the shot put F20 number at the sports events currently being held at Huangdong Sports Center Stadium in China.
Suparni's best record was 11.12 meters from six tries, while the gold medal was won by Japanese athlete Rina Hori with 11.93 meters. The bronze medal went to Malaysian athlete, Noor Imanina binti Idris with 11.08 meters.
Meanwhile, on its first day competing in the Asian Para Games, Indonesian athletes participated in several sports branches such as para-swim, para-weightlifting, para-cycling, blind judo, and lawn bowls.
For para-weightlifting Indonesian athlete Abdul Hadi took the stage for the male 49 kilograms number. However, he was unable to secure Indonesia a medal for his debut performance since three of his lifts were declared no lift by the judges.
On the other hand, the fourth edition Asian Para Games' first gold medal went to Chinese athlete Xie Maosan for para-canoe female KL1 number.
Asian Para Games 2022 will be held until Saturday, October 28, 2023.
