TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The joint search and rescue team has been conducting a search for a missing Chinese national, Yi Liu (27), who went missing yesterday, Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. WITA. Yi Liu went missing during a vacation around Long Pink Beach, Komodo National Park in Labuan Bajo, NTT.
"A search and rescue operation is commencing in Long Pink Beach of Labuan Bajo," said the head of Maumere Disaster Management Agency and SAR Mission Coordinator Supriyanto Ridwan in an official statement from Maumere as quoted by Antara.
Ridwan explained that the chronology for the disappearance was obtained from the captain of Qifadzah 03, a vessel that took the tourist entourage to Long Pink Beach at 08:30 a.m. WITA. The captain recommended that the passengers step down from the ship to enjoy the beauty of nature surrounding the beach.
However, when all tourists were asked to get back on board, the victim was nowhere to be found. "A video recorded at 09:16 a.m. showed the victim walking along the shoreline wearing the snorkeling gears," he said.
The joint SAR team is scouring the sea and the surrounding savanna to find Yi Liu. "Until 16:15 p.m., the search bore no results," he concluded.
