TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta will host the Meeting of Governors and Mayors of ASEAN Capitals (MGMAC) and ASEAN Mayors Forum (AMF) 2023 on August 1-2, 2023. Jakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono said that there are five priority issues to be discussed in the meetings, namely Inclusive Economic Growth, Digital Transformation, Resilient Cities and Climate Action, Localization of Sustainable Development Goals, and Sustainable Mobility.

"It is an honor for Jakarta to host the meetings. In addition to the MGMAC and AMF, we will officiate the ASEAN Park in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta," he said in a written statement on Monday, July 31, 2023.

According to Joko, MGMAC, and AMF will be participated by more than 500 people consisting of Governors and Mayors of ASEAN country members, representatives to the regional government association for ASEAN country members, Community Permanent Representatives of ASEAN, partners, and other multilateral bodies. "Jakarta provincial government has prepared for these meetings to run well," he said.

Joko also said that the traffic synergy by Regional Apparatus Organization has been conducted days before the event to ensure the delegations' mobility comfort in Jakarta. "We have established and maintain the beauty of the route passed by MGMAC and AMF delegations. We also ensure the delegations will have the best experience and hospitality from Jakarta," Joko explained.

Additionally, the government also prepared a city tour "Unity in Diversity" for delegates interested in Jakarta's diversity and tolerance issues. The Jakarta government also cooperates with the Central Government through the Foreign Ministry to ensure the success of these meetings.

Joko urged the people and entrepreneurs to help invigorate the series of ASEAN Summit events. These meetings are an opportunity for Jakarta to show the face of an ever-developing city as part of the global cities across ASEAN. "We also apologize to everyone if there are traffic simulations and other things intended to ensure the success of MGMAC and AMF 2023," he said.
