TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said the cooperation agenda between Indonesia and China had been approved by Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Among them is the partnership in the development of high-level research and technology, health, and the North Kalimantan areas.
“And then regarding IKN (Indonesia’s new capital of Nusantara), the cooperation will be in the context of urban planning,” Luhut explained on his official Instagram account @luhut.pandjaitan, Friday, July 28, 2023.
According to him, the collaboration between the IKN Authority and the Shenzhen City Government is a primary matter as it contributes to the new capital development plan, besides input from other partner countries, namely the United Arab Emirates.
Therefore, the government agreed to schedule a return visit to Shenzhen, so that in the next six months, they could get the design and details of the urban planning.
Luhut said the bilateral meeting was followed by a dinner in a very warm and friendly atmosphere. The two leaders even talked about the Durian fruit. “Pak Jokowi said, if [Xi] likes durian, he can just plant it in Indonesia,” Luhut recalled.
Luhut further assessed that the success of the deals in several agendas with China occurred because the two countries share similar visions. Indonesia and China, he added, have the principle of equality and justice, so they both have opportunities to create sustainable development.
