TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK has named Muna Regent La Ode Muhammad Rusman Emba as a suspect in the case of alleged bribery in the management of loans from the Ministry of Home Affairs' PEN (National Economic Recovery) Fund for Muna Regency in the fiscal year of 2021-2022.
"Two people have been named suspects for allegedly paying the bribes. One is the head of a regent in Southeast Tenggara, and another is a private citizen," he said. KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said in an official statement released on July 12.
Fikri said that La Ode was named as a suspect following the development of the Ardian Noervianto case, the Home Ministry's former director general of regional finance administration. He was convicted guilty of accepting bribes from South Sulawesi officials taken from the PEN fund.
Ardian was sentenced to 6 years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of Rp250 million. He was also slapped to pay an additional Rp1.5 billion in damages for the state losses incurred.
Ali did not provide a detailed explanation about what role La Ode Rusman is suspected of in the bribery graft.
