Erick Thohir Comments on U-17 World Cup and Coldplay Show Schedule Clash

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2023 U-17 World Cup will be held in Indonesia from November 10 to December 2. On the sidelines of the event, the Coldplay concert will be held at Gelora Bung Karno main stadium, Jakarta, on November 15.
Indonesian Football Association chair Erick Thohir could yet confirm if GBK's main stadium would be used for U-17 World Cup. Due to the clashing schedule, Erick contacted several parties in finding a fair solution.
According to the man who also posts as SOE Minister, both events are important and would bring positive impacts to Indonesia.
"The 2023 U-17 World Cup agenda had been set that way, [the schedule] cannot be changed. Therefore, I talked to President (Joko Widodo) and several ministers, including Pak Sandiaga Uno, don’t let small clashes turn positive things into negative," Erick said in Jakarta on Saturday, June 24.
"I cannot say if Coldplay [concert] will be rescheduled or stays [the same], that’s what we will find the solution for since both events are good for Indonesia," he added.
The former chief of Inter Milan Mantan does not want PSSI prioritizes ego regardless of other things. But he hopes that when there is an agenda for Indonesia's national team, the country’s main stadium must be ready, despite mentioning some other good quality stadiums besides GBK.
